"Three students from our university – Eliza Podsiadła (Business Studies), Daniyar Zhumatayev (Information Technology), and Marta Kuźmicz (Human Computer Interaction) – recently took part in the ECIU University User Focus Group held at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. The event gathered learners and staff from across Europe to work together on improving the user experience within ECIU University.

This is how Daniyar commented on the event:

"The focus group provided us with a unique opportunity to directly influence how students will interact with digital learning platforms in the future. It was empowering to see our ideas taken seriously by UX professionals and educational leaders."

The Focus Group, organized by the ECIU UX & Services Team (Work Package 7), focused on the learner journey on the engage.eciu website, such as what happens during and after completing a challenge or a micromodule. Participants explored topics such as the use of microcredentials and how to make digital platforms and support services more intuitive and impactful.

During the 1.5-day session, learners collaborated with UX professionals to evaluate the current experience and co-develop ideas for the future. One of the key proposals that gained significant traction was an improved credential visualization system that would help students better understand and showcase their acquired competencies across institutions. The team also developed recommendations for streamlining the navigation between different learning modules.

Through creative workshops and open discussions, participants shared their own perspectives and proposed improvements that reflect the real needs of students. It was also a great moment of continuity – some ideas developed during previous ECIU events, like the recent Hackathon in Finland, were brought into the conversation, received first-hand feedback and met with enthusiasm.

Taking part in the Focus Group was a chance not only to contribute to the future of European education, but also to connect with like-minded students from different countries. Experiences like these highlight the value of international collaboration and student engagement in shaping better, more responsive educational systems.
